Inform shareholders and franchisors

Keep your investors and franchisors well informed of your progress and inform them of any bad news quickly before the problem worsens. The franchisor can help you with any problem you encounter so do not hold back from turning to them for help and assistance.

Love your staff

If you treat you employees correctly and kindly, they will reciprocate in like manner. Communicate with them well and inform your employees when they do well and when they are doing badly.  Do not allow any politics to occur and do not be overfriendly. Always celebrate any success the franchise might achieve no matter how small it is. Communicate everything both good and bad.

Focus

Focus on your business and only expand if it is driven by customer need.  Do not spend anytime thinking about exiting your franchise agreement or thinking you are a failure. Just focus!

Clearly define success, put in place simple ways of measuring success and always give employees rewards for achieving that success. Incentives are very important!

Never over promise anything and be flexible with everything. Price your products or services to win! Display that passion you have for your franchise business.

Do not overspend money

Do not go purchasing cars, fancy PC’s, creating fancy offices or organising expensive lunches and events. Rather create a culture where you do not like to spend too much money and make cash everyone’s concern.

Utilise other people’s brains and knowledge

Remove your ego and recognise your weaknesses. Rather employ people who can do what you cannot. Employ only the best.
