Making your Franchise Employees Happy

When owning a franchise, your greatest asset is your staff. They aid in the successfulness of your franchise and help things to run smoothly. If your employees are dissatisfied and unhappy with treatment or working facilities, this will increase stress and negatively affect the franchise business. It will also hinder any success. 1. Strive to provide your employees with an environment that is conducive for work, both physically and mentally. You can do this by:

• Setting up a work environment that is physically comfortable and mentally stimulating. This will include: a clean space, good lighting, comfortable temperature, functioning equipment and reasonable noise levels. It has been researched that temperatures and noise levels will vastly affect performance levels. If the working environment is ridiculously hot, cluttered and the noise levels are high, it will negatively impact on production and performance.

• Perhaps place a radio or have music playing in the background that will calm employees and aid in performance. Provide proper toilet facilities and clean kiosks.

2. Set realistic employee goals. If you push your employees too hard, there is no doubt that they will resent you. One way to keep everyone focused is by scheduling morning meetings that outline the work agenda for that day. Make sure you are accessible and easy to talk to if ever they need to chat to you about a problem.
